The question is on everybody’s mind:
Who will rule Westeros by the end of the TV series?
The seventh season of the fantasy drama television series Game of Thrones is set to premiere on HBO on July 16, 2017, and finish six weeks later. With the penultimate season days away, this is the perfect time to start placing bets on who will sit on the Iron Throne by the end of the series.
Set in the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos, Game of Thrones has three primary story arcs.
The first follows the alliances and conflicts among the dynastic noble families either trying to claim the Iron Throne or fight for independence from it.
The second story arc focuses on Daenerys, the last descendant of the deposed ruling dynasty - the Targaryens, and chronicles her journey from slavery, to being a ruling Monarch in Essos.
The third arc features the brotherhood of the Night’s Watch, charged with defending the realm against the ‘Wildlings’ and legendary creatures that lie far North, most notably the White Walkers.
With the season 7 premiere looming over us, the big question Who will rule Westeros is still uncertain. To add to the tone of mystery, leading bookmakers have released odds and betting markets for who you think will claim the Iron Throne.
In this article, we will go through the main contenders and how to bet on Game of Thrones.
Although much of season 7 is still unknown we know one thing is certain, the upcoming season is full of surprises ready to blow our socks off.
As The Odds Stand, The Main Contenders Are;
#1 Daenerys Targaryen
The silver-haired Queen across the sea started season 6 as a prisoner of the Khalasar, but she quickly her luck around. Now, with the Dothraki army, her three dragons, and the support of three major houses, Daenerys is arguably in the strongest position to take the Iron Throne.
#2 Jon Snow
The fan favourite character literally rose from the dead last season. The confirmation of the theory that he is the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark makes it far likelier that he ends up on the throne.
#3 Tyrion Lannister
He is the Hand of the Queen to Daenerys Targaryen. The chances of him sitting on the Iron Throne may seem unlikely while he is allied with her. However this is George RR Martin - Daenerys’ own survival is not assured, and who knows, maybe Tyrion will have to take her place.
#4 Arya Stark
Arya’s storyline took her out of Westeros and isolated her from the rest of the characters for quite a while. To our likings, she’s back with a bang (or a pie, if we’re going to be accurate). Arya is now a trained faceless man, and that makes her a formidable threat to all the other characters.
#5 Sansa Stark
No longer caring for the traditional feminine conventions she used to be praised as a child.
Season six sees Sansa declaring war on Ramsay, and delivering the most satisfying execution in the show - that of Ramsay. Unlike her often naive brother Jon Snow, Sansa is fully aware of Little Finger’s displeasure at her brother’s crowning as King in the North.
#6 Petyr Baelish (Little Finger)
Little Finger is devious, skilled, and strategic. Some of the most important events in the show - including Eddard Stark becoming the Hand of the King, and the War of the Five Kings, happened because of his machinations. He wants Sansa to rule Westeros with him.
#7 Cersei Lannister
She currently sits on the Iron Throne, and after she used wildfire to destroy the Great Sept of Baelor and murder all those who oppose her, it is likely that she will be remaining on it for some time.
But, for how long?
She has been following the Mad King’s steps, and many theorise that she may meet the same destiny.
Nevertheless, Cersei is unpredictable, and while probably a tad insane, the last season finale showed us that she should not be ignored.
