NHL 2021-22 predictions: season and Stanley Cup preview
The Tampa Bay Lightning secured their second consecutive Stanley Cup title after defeating the Montreal Canadiens by four games to one. The 2021-22 NHL is contested among 32 teams after the addition of the Seattle Kraken. The teams are divided into Eastern and Western Conferences, with each conference divided into two divisions. This regular season will return to an 82-game scheme after the last two seasons were reduced due to COVID.
Each franchise has a set schedule during the regular season: 82 games, 41 at home and 41 away. Out of these games, 26 are played in the same division (four against five of their seven divisional opponents, plus three against two others); 24 — against the eight remaining non-divisional intra-conference opponents (three against each team in its conference's other division); 32 — against each team in the other conference twice (home and away).
Any win is worth two points, an overtime or shootout loss is worth one point, and a regulation time loss is worth zero. The team with the most points in each division is proclaimed division champion, while the league's overall leader is awarded the Presidents' Trophy.
The NHL regular season is followed by the Stanley Cup. Eight teams from the Western and Eastern Conference qualify for the playoffs. The top three teams in each division, as well as the two conference teams with the next best amount of points, qualify from each conference.
In the Stanley Cup, each team faces its opponent in a seven-game series. The first team to win four games in the series advances to the next round. The winner of the Eastern Conference Final and that of the Western Conference Final meet in the Stanley Cup finals.
On Takebet, we offer the best daily NHL expert picks for the regular season and NHL playoffs predictions for the Stanley Cup. Our ice hockey prediction site also offers free NHL betting tips for future outrights such as the winner of the Stanley Cup, the winner of Presidents Trophy, the winner of each division and the conferences, the MVP and others.
