Day opened by Brazil, which after a well fought first half, managed to overcome Mexico only late in the second half , closing with a 2-0 win, and booking a pass to the quarterfinals.

Quarterfinals also reached, not without difficulty, even by Belgium: after having fallen behind two goals, they had reacted and managed to comeback in the last seconds of injury time, eliminating Japan.

The third quarterfinal, after France-Uruguay and Russia-Croatia, will be between Brazil and Belgium.

The match between Brazil and Belgium will take place this Friday, July 6th at 8:00 pm (CET)

The last precedent between these two nations dates back to June 17, 2002, where Brazil won 2-0.

Both Brazil and Belgium advance to the quarterfinal stage with an unbeaten record, three wins and a draw for the Selecao against four wins for the Red Devils.

The Europeans can boast a super attack, scoring 12 goals in four games, with the South Americans having instead a better defence, with only one goal against so far.

Team Forms and Recent Results

Thanks to the 2-0 defeat to Mexico, Brazil has then gained access to the quarters, where they will have to face another tough opponent in Belgium.

Belgium, like Brazil, are also one of the main candidates to bring home the much sought-after World Cup.

Then they managed to win 1-0 against England on the final day of the group stages, that allowed the Belgium to finished first in group G.

A little bit surprisingly, in the quarterfinals the Red Devils have struggled against Japan, risking a premature elimination: however a great reaction has allowed Belgium to overturn the 2-0 deficit and eliminate the Japanese to advance to the quarterfinals.
